Joy Chappell

Instructor

Joy is a 2016 graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography. While at Shenandoah, Joy had the opportunity to be a part of several dance residencies including Jon Lehrer, Mike Esperanza, Stephanie Martinez, and Company E. She has danced as a guest artist for various organizations and venues, her favorite being a backup dancer for Weird Al Yankovic at Pier Six Pavilion. Joy has taught for six dance studios in Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia in a range of styles to include jazz, tap, contemporary, ballet and acro as an Acrobatic Arts certified instructor. She is currently the Dance Chair for “Music and Worship Arts Week,” a multi-generational arts conference held annually at Lake Junaluska in North Carolina. This past summer, she had the joy of choreographing “Heathers: The Musical Teen Edition” For Storm Performing Arts, a non-profit theater located in Ashburn, Virginia. Joy is excited to be joining The Dance Complex, and looks forward to dancing with you this year!
